In March 2004, CheckPoint began reporting hospital quality and safety measures.
Over time, additional measures are added which increase the number of diseases and
procedures reported on. In addition, the same data may be presented in more than
one way to better explain the information.
The WHA Board of Directors has approved the addition of the new measures listed
below:
Perinatal Measures - Measures relating to childbirth and the care of the mother and
baby will be added to CheckPoint. These measures have not yet been determined but
it is expected the measures will be reported in 2008.
Other approved measures include the Outpatient Surgery, ER transfers to another facility for heart attack patients, Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI) and Stroke. These measures are expected to be available in stages throughout calendar year 2009 and into 2010.
